KHS.HF.MPro14 – From Factory to Phu Quoc Airport with EI60 and EI120 Fire-Resistant Duct Solutions

In large-scale infrastructure projects, HVAC ductwork systems play an important role in ensuring proper air circulation and the operation of building services. In the event of a fire, these systems also need to be protected to help limit the spread of fire, heat, and smoke between different areas of a building. For projects with high fire safety requirements, selecting the appropriate fire-resistant material for ductwork systems is therefore an important consideration from the design and manufacturing stages. At the Phu Quoc Airport project, KHS.HF.MPro14 fire-resistant and thermal insulation panels, supplied by KH Shield, are used in the manufacturing process of fire-resistant ductwork at the factory, supporting the project’s EI60 and EI120 fire-resistance requirements.

KHS.HF.MPro14 – Material for Fire-Resistant Ductwork Systems

KHS.HF.MPro14 is a fire-resistant and thermal insulation panel developed for applications involving the protection of building technical systems. With a 14 mm thickness, the panel is used in the fabrication of components and fire-resistant ductwork systems, providing an optimized material solution throughout the manufacturing process. For fire-resistant ductwork, performance does not depend solely on the protective material. It also involves the system construction, fabrication methods, joints, connection details, installation procedures, and other technical requirements. Therefore, selecting the appropriate material from the manufacturing stage helps maintain greater consistency between the factory production process and on-site installation.

Application in EI60 – EI120 Fire-Resistant Ductwork Solutions

At the Phu Quoc Airport project, KHS.HF.MPro14 is used in the production of EI60 and EI120 fire-resistant ductwork systems. The classifications EI60 and EI120 refer to fire-resistance requirements corresponding to 60 and 120 minutes, respectively, in accordance with the applicable standards and requirements for the design, testing, and acceptance of the system. These requirements are commonly considered for technical systems in large-scale buildings and infrastructure projects, where controlling the spread of fire and heat needs to be addressed as part of the overall fire safety strategy. For the Phu Quoc Airport project, KHS.HF.MPro14 becomes part of the ductwork manufacturing process at the factory before the completed ductwork is transported to the construction site for installation according to the project’s requirements.

From Material Supply to Finished Ductwork at Phu Quoc Airport

A complete fire-resistant ductwork system is the result of multiple interconnected stages. For the Phu Quoc project, the process can be understood through four key stages:

01. Material Supply

KH Shield supplies KHS.HF.MPro14 panels to the ductwork factory for use in the production of fire-resistant duct systems.A stable and consistent material supply is an important first step, allowing the factory to plan its fabrication process and production schedule in accordance with project requirements.

02. Factory Fabrication

KHS.HF.MPro14 panels are incorporated into the fabrication, forming, and finishing processes of the ductwork system based on the approved design and technical requirements.Manufacturing at the factory allows fabrication activities to be organized systematically, making it easier to control dimensions, construction details, material usage, and production schedules before the finished products are delivered to the site.

03. Finished Ductwork

Following fabrication, the ductwork components are completed according to the requirements of each system and project area. This stage connects the raw material with the finished ductwork product, helping streamline the installation process and reduce complex fabrication work at the construction site.

04. Transportation and Site Installation

Once completed, the ductwork is transported to the Phu Quoc Airport construction site for installation as part of the building’s technical systems. The material journey therefore does not end at the factory. It continues through to the construction site, creating a connected process:

KHS.HF.MPro14 → Factory Fabrication → Fire-Resistant Ductwork → Phu Quoc Airport

Why Is Material Selection Important for Fire-Resistant Ductwork?

For fire-resistant ductwork systems, the material is one of the key components contributing to the overall protection solution.A system designed to meet EI60 or EI120 requirements needs to be considered as a complete system, including the material used, system construction, fabrication methods, installation procedures, connection details, and applicable testing and acceptance requirements.Selecting the appropriate material at an early stage provides project stakeholders with a basis for developing a suitable manufacturing and installation approach. With its 14 mm thickness, KHS.HF.MPro14 is supplied by KH Shield for the production of fire-resistant ductwork, contributing to a material solution for technical systems in projects with demanding fire safety requirements.

KH Shield – From Material Supply to Fire Protection Solutions

For construction projects with stringent fire safety requirements, the material supply chain and coordination between material suppliers, manufacturers, contractors, and project stakeholders play an important role in maintaining production and installation schedules.KH Shield focuses on developing and supplying fire-resistant and thermal insulation material solutions for various building technical applications, including fire-resistant ductwork systems.Through the supply of KHS.HF.MPro14 for the Phu Quoc Airport project, KH Shield continues to support the project supply chain from:

Material → Manufacturing → Finished Product → Construction Site

Rather than simply supplying a material, KH Shield aims to create a consistent connection between the material at the beginning of the process and the actual technical requirements of the project, supporting partners throughout the manufacturing and installation process.

KHS.HF.MPro14 – Material Solution for Modern Infrastructure

From the manufacturing facility to large-scale infrastructure projects such as Phu Quoc Airport, every material component contributes to the development of a complete technical system. KHS.HF.MPro14 is supplied for the production of EI60 and EI120 fire-resistant ductwork systems, supporting the application of fire-resistant and thermal insulation materials in projects where safety, system performance, and reliable installation are key considerations.
