The update on the progress of the Metro Line 1 project (Ben Thanh – Suoi Tien) is scheduled to commence commercial operation in the fourth quarter of this year, instead of July as previously planned.

Information provided in the document by the Urban Railway Management Board of Ho Chi Minh City (the investor) recently sent to the City People’s Committee Office, regarding the plan to operate the city’s first electric train line. Accordingly, in the third quarter (July, August, September), the Ben Thanh – Suoi Tien Metro needs to implement several tasks, including: reviewing safety system assessments; conducting fire prevention and firefighting inspections; completing training for train drivers, operation, station management, scheduling, maintenance… Therefore, the city’s first electric train line cannot carry commercial passengers during this time.

It is expected that by the fourth quarter, the investor will complete the fire prevention and firefighting inspection, issue certificates, and safety system approvals for the stations. The state inspection council will proceed with the inspection of remaining items and commence full line commercial operation.
