QCVN 06:2021 changes standards for fireproof materials

Going through many stages of application and amendment, QCVN 06:2021/BXD is one of the new technical regulations with the goal of bringing fire safety standards to construction works. QCVN 06:2021/BXD is becoming the focus of attention of the construction industry, with new requirements of the standard to improve and complete fire prevention and fighting regulations.

What is QCVN 06:2021/BXD fireproof material regulations?

QCVN 06:2021/BXD was compiled by the Institute of Construction Science and Technology, submitted for approval by the Institute of Science, Technology and Environment, appraised by the Ministry of Science and Technology, and issued by the Ministry of Construction along with Circular No. 02 /2021/TT-BXD dated May 19, 2021 of the Minister of Construction. QCVN 06:2021/BXD replaces QCVN 06:2020/BXD issued together with Circular No. 01/2020/TT-BXD, dated April 6, 2020 of the Minister of Construction.

Regarding content, the fireproof material standard QCVN 06:2021/BXD stipulates general requirements on fire safety for rooms, houses and construction works (hereinafter referred to as houses); Mandatory application in all stages of new construction, renovation, repair or change of function; At the same time, regulations on fire technical classification for houses, parts and components of houses, rooms, construction components and construction materials.

QCVN 06:2021/BXD applies to organizations and individuals involved in construction investment, management and use of civil and industrial houses in the territory of Vietnam. Accordingly, regulations require that when designing houses, there must be structural solutions, site layout – space and construction techniques.

On May 19, 2021, the Ministry of Construction issued Circular No. 02/2021/TT-BXD on QCVN 06:2021/BXD – National Technical Regulations on fire safety for houses and buildings to replace QCVN 06 :2020/BXD was issued on April 6, 2020. In the new standard, there are a number of changes that businesses need to pay attention to the provisions in standard QCVN 06:2021/BXD

The height of fire prevention and fighting (fire protection) of house doors is mentioned more clearly in terms of calculation and amendment of some regulations using house height criteria to fire protection height criteria;
Conceptually, “side corridor”: Is a corridor on one side that is ventilated to the outside, not continuously blocked along its length, with a clear height calculated from the top of the retaining wall at the edge of the corridor to the top. not less than 1.2 m. In Appendix A: Supplementing Article “A.3 Regulations for buildings in the fire danger group according to function F1.3 (apartment buildings) with fire protection height from 75m to 150m”.

The structural fire danger level of the house is determined according to the fire danger level of the main construction components of the house.
