In terms of structure, the fire-resistant ducts meet two criteria: E criterion for material integrity and I criterion for thermal insulation. To achieve these two criteria, Vitduct and KH Shield began their collaboration since late 2019, even before the QCVN 06:2021/BXD standard was issued, to initiate research and testing.

The first test took place in March 2020, approximately 4 months before the QCVN 06:2021/BXD standard became effective. The initial testing encountered many challenges due to its novelty and unfamiliarity compared to prevailing practices in the Vietnamese market. With the concerted effort and determination of Vitduct and KH Shield, the first test met some of the requirements but still could not produce a product that fulfilled all the technical and aesthetic criteria, as well as the most crucial aspect – cost-effectiveness.

The research and development team at QH Plus conducted another test on January 14, 2022, to assess the technical capabilities of the fire-resistant panel. This experiment was controlled using three parameters: ignition time, furnace temperature, and temperature on the steel sample. The KH Shield fire-resistant panel with a thickness of 20mm was expected to withstand fire for 60 minutes, and the temperature inside the steel sample was not to exceed 538°C.

However, the crucial factor for us, including the leadership, was to find a fire-resistant panel that not only met structural requirements but also facilitated production while satisfying various conditions.

Upon testing KH Shield panels, we discovered numerous advantages. For instance, the smooth surface allows us to apply various types of adhesives (wood adhesives) available in the market. ”At Amavi, most of our wood cutting machinery uses wood cutting blades, and we also cut KH Shield panels using wood cutting blades as usual. There is no charring at the edges, and the sharpness of the cutting blade as well as the wood cutting lifespan remain unaffected. This has greatly facilitated our production process.

Moreover, when it comes to structural aspects, if needed, we can easily attach handles or KH Shield panels using screws without the risk of screw corrosion. Another crucial factor is that we conducted a burn test (at IBST) and found that KH Shield panels maintain a highly stable structural integrity.

After conducting thorough research, we discovered that KH Shield panels are environmentally friendly and their composition is non-toxic. This aspect holds significant humanitarian value for the investor, ensuring safety for users.
